RusVPN Review 2025: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?
RusVPN Overview
“2025 UPDATE! Unfortunately, RusVPN is no longer available. Why not check out our list of the best VPNs in 2025 or find out more about our top recommendation, ExpressVPN.”
Editor's Note: Transparency is one of our core values at WizCase, so you should know we are in the same ownership group as ExpressVPN. However, this does not affect our review process, as we adhere to a strict testing methodology.
While RusVPN is a decent VPN, you can get better quality VPNs at an affordable price. ExpressVPN, for example, offers premium VPN features for a low monthly fee — so you don’t have to settle for less.
RusVPN is a fairly standard VPN service offering everything you’d expect it to. With this VPN, you’ll be protected from the prying eyes of hackers and cybercriminals which will significantly reduce your chances of falling victim to a cyber attack. They will also prevent any surveillance from occurring by hiding your traffic and data from government agencies and your ISP, keeping your online activities completely private.
RusVPN has kept up with industry standards when it comes to their security and provides users with features like a no logs policy and 2048-bit encryption. The security RusVPN has will ensure your protection and anonymity while you’re browsing the internet.
It was dishearting to discover that while RusVPN claims to have exceptional speeds, we found them to be just average in comparison with other VPNs. When running a few speed tests with RusVPN we found that connecting to their service was considerably slowing down our download speeds. That said, the difference in speed was only noticable when streaming videos and we barely noticed a change when searching the web.
One of our favorite things about this VPN was their free applications available for Chrome and Firefox. Not only do they offer free browser extensions, but RusVPN also has a 7-day free trial so you can test out the full extent of their service on iOS and Android devices. If you’re looking to test out their desktop applications for Windows and Mac devices, they have a 30-day money-back guarantee as well.
Speed - 7.1 / 10
Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds
Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

RusVPN has 338+ servers in 30+ countries and more than 37 IP addresses/locations.

User Experience - 7.3 / 10
While RusVPN does offer users some unique and well-designed features, it’s initial setup can be intimidating, particularly for those new to VPNs.
In order to install RusVPN on your computer, you must follow the links to download Tunnelblick and then download each individual OpenVPN configuration file. This process is much longer and more complicated than strictly necessary which is why we can’t recommend RusVPN if you’re looking for a no-fuss option.
However, one big advantage to RusVPN is that you’re able to connect an unlimited number of devices with their service so you can keep yourself protected on all fronts. This is a feature most providers limit, so it comes as a breath of fresh air.
RusVPN might offer a good service at a reasonable price, but does it match up with other top VPNs? We find it hard to say “yes”. To be sure you’re choosing the right VPN for your needs, review this list of top recommended VPNs.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care
We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
Editor's Note: We value our relationship with our readers, and we strive to earn your trust through transparency and integrity. We are in the same ownership group as some of the industry-leading products reviewed on this site: ExpressVPN, Cyberghost, Private Internet Access, and Intego. However, this does not affect our review process, as we adhere to a strict testing methodology.
