Reddit Launches AI-Powered “Reddit Answers”

Reddit announced today that it has introduced a new AI-powered search tool called Reddit Answers, designed to help users find information more easily on the platform.

With Reddit Answers, users can ask questions and receive responses through an AI-driven conversational interface. The tool curates relevant conversations and details from across Reddit, displaying summaries, links to related posts, and suggestions for follow-up questions.

This aims to streamline the process of finding answers and recommendations on a wide range of topics by connecting users with real discussions from the Reddit community.

While Reddit is known for hosting a wealth of advice and insights, the introduction of AI is part of an effort to make the search experience faster and more relevant.

Currently, Reddit Answers is available to a limited number of users in the U.S. and is supported in English. The company plans to expand the feature to more languages and regions in the future. Users interested in the tool can sign up on Reddit to be notified when it becomes available in their area.

In an email to TechCrunch, Reddit explained that the new feature is powered by its own technology, while also incorporating AI models from OpenAI and Google Cloud.

TechCrunch notes that given that companies like Google and OpenAI already use Reddit’s user-generated content in their AI tools through partnerships, it makes sense for Reddit to develop its own in-house conversational tool to help users find quick answers.

Jay Peters from The Verge got an early and quick look at Reddit Answers, a new AI-powered tool. He noted that the interface features a large search box, but also suggests queries users can click on, such as “favorite Nintendo character of all time,” “best mystery novels of 2025,” and “tips for flying with a baby for the first time.”

Peters tried the last suggestion, and the tool quickly generated a list of tips with bulleted suggestions. Each suggestion had hyperlinks, and when clicked, a sidebar appeared showing the exact Reddit post where the information originated.

Peters compared the Reddit Answers tool to a standard Reddit site search on Google. When searching for the same query on Google, he was met with a long list of links to evaluate and click through.

Unlike Reddit Answers, Google’s version lacks summaries and bullet points, making it less immediately informative. However, Peters notes that he’s generally skeptical of AI-generated summaries due to the potential for errors, so he still finds Google’s results a useful way to explore relevant posts on Reddit.
