  • The new Kindle Colorsoft is available for pre-order at $279.99
  • Compared to previous models, the latest Kindle Paperwhite is 25% faster
  • Amazon introduced new updates to the latest version of its Kindle Scribe including AI-powered features

Amazon announced this Wednesday a new lineup of Kindle devices, including the first color Kindle, the fastest Kindle Paperwhite, the latest Kindle Scribe model, a new Matcha color for its most advanced Kindle, and new designs and features for its Kindle Kids models.

The new Kindle Colorsoft displays colors on the screen for the first time, allowing users to see book covers, comics, and images in their original colors. The waterproof device includes 32 gigabytes of storage, and up to 8 weeks of battery, and is available for pre-order at $279.99, and deliveries begin on October 30.

“Everything about Kindle Colorsoft was meticulously designed to deliver rich, paper-like color,” states the company in the press release. “Its custom Colorsoft display includes a new light-guide with nitride LEDs that, when combined with our custom algorithms, enhances color and increases brightness, all without washing out details.”

The new Kindle Paperwhite has 25% faster page turns compared to previous versions, higher contrast, a larger display screen of 7 inches, and around 4 months of battery life. Readers can choose from 16 to 32 GB, different colors—Jade, Raspberry, and Black—and charging alternatives, starting at $159.99.

The latest note-taking device, Kindle Scribe, offers a novel book-writing experience, and new built-in AI-powered features to summarize pages and notes, and share content. Amazon noted that soon users will be able to write side notes and hide them in upcoming updates. The device price starts at $399.99.

Amazon’s latest and most compact entry-level Kindle comes in Matcha color, weights 158g, has 300 ppi, and is available starting at $109.99.

The tech giant also announced new models for Kindle Kids, the e-readers designed for children with new cover designs, kid-friendly software, and a six-month subscription to Amazon Kids+.

Last month, Amazon’s subsidiary Audible launched a new AI-powered beta program for narrators to replicate and monetize their own voices.
