SuperVPN Review 2024: Before You Buy, Is It Worth It?

SuperVPN Overview

“2024 UPDATE! Unfortunately SuperVPN is no longer available. Why not check out our list of the best VPNs in 2024 or find out more about our top recommendation, ExpressVPN.”

Editor's Note: Transparency is one of our core values at WizCase, so you should know we are in the same ownership group as ExpressVPN. However, this does not affect our review process, as we adhere to a strict testing methodology.

While SuperVPN is a decent VPN, you can get better quality VPNs at an affordable price. CyberGhost, for example, offers premium VPN features for a super low monthly fee — so you don’t have to settle for less.

SuperVPN is a US-based provider that dazzles us as a market-oriented service. The team behind it knows what users look most in a VPN and they know how to sell it. Variety is what makes SuperVPN stand out among its competitors. There are a lot of price plans offered depending on what you need a VPN for whether for torrenting, Blackberry service, VoIP, streaming, secure browsing, gaming, etc. and access to Super VPN’s servers is widely distributed according to your subscription type.

SuperVPN has very good server network coverage with over 400 servers located across more than 40 countries. While SuperVPN permits torrenting, users can only seed and leech torrents from US and German servers only, which is quite baffling because these countries are known for their hostility towards torrent users.

SuperVPN is highly adaptable and compatible with a wide array of platforms and devices from desktops to gaming consoles, combined with up to 5 simultaneous connections making it very dexterous and efficient. On the other hand, SuperVPN’s dexterity comes with distressful popups, permissions, and ads, so it’s entirely up to you, if you don’t mind such inconvenience.

Security isn’t super with Super VPN, but it’s pretty standard. You get 128-bit or 4096-bit encryption and support for PPTP, SSL, and OpenVPN, but Super VPN apps aren’t equipped with kill switch and are pretty difficult to deal with.

As for privacy, SuperVPN is located in one of the toughest members of the Five Eye countries that take data retention seriously. Further, the company doesn’t keep activity logs, but it stores your IP address and connection logs. SuperVPN has its perks, but it gives a shady vibe with all the unnecessary ads, permissions, and pop ups. In addition, we find it more expensive for what’s offered.

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

User Experience

- 8.4 / 10

No doubt SuperVPN impresses with its cross-platform support to run on a wide range of devices including routers, Smart TVs, gaming consoles, and Blackberry.

However, SuperVPN’s software client is set with thorns as opposed to other user-friendly VPN applications due to the unstoppable stream of ads and popups that you can hardly miss. Once you pass the popup phase, you can easily connect to your favorite server.

Speed isn’t very special with SuperVPN and inconsistent at times, while its ability to access geo-restricted streaming services, social networks, VoIP apps, and channels is in the lap of luxury (except Netflix).

SuperVPN might offer a good service at a reasonable price, but does it match up with other top VPNs? We find it hard to say “yes”. To be sure you’re choosing the right VPN for your needs, review this list of top recommended VPNs.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.
