Lifetime Premium VPN Review 2024: Is It Worth Buying?

Lifetime Premium VPN Overview

I was curious to find out more about Lifetime VPN’s unique subscription structure. Instead of an annual payment, you can get access to the VPN for life with a single down payment. I was eager to see if its claims of complete privacy, top-notch encryption, unlimited speeds, and compatibility with both streaming and torrenting stacked up against the top-rated VPNs on the market.

Lifetime Premium VPN fell short of my expectations. I found it to be a pretty basic security solution as it did not offer many servers, had slow connections, and did not offer good customer service. One advantage is that the apps ran smoothly, and I didn’t experience any lag or crash issues. However, it lacks quality security and privacy features.

By signing up to the VPN’s lifetime subscription, you can give the software a try risk-free via the 7-day money-back guarantee. This offer is only available for Android users through Google Playstore, though. Unfortunately, refunds are not currently available for users of iOS or MacOS apps.

Don’t Have Time? Here’s a 1-Minute Summary

Lifetime Premium VPN Unblocks Netflix, Amazon Prime, and BBC iPlayer (But Can’t Access Hulu and HBO Max)

I was happy to find that Lifetime Premium VPN could unblock most of the streaming platforms I tested. Despite not being able to unblock Hulu and HBO Max, it easily unblocked other streaming sites like US Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and BBC iPlayer.

Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and BBC iPlayer: Unblocked

In addition to Netflix, Lifetime Premium VPN unblocked Amazon Prime Video with its US server. My colleague in the UK could also stream shows on BBC iPlayer, although the streaming quality wasn’t spectacular.

I streamed Netflix without a hitch on Lifetime Premium VPN, which makes it one of the few VPN services that can access US Netflix on the go. Performance-wise, there were no issues at all. If you are traveling abroad and want to access your home region’s content, you can also access Netflix regional libraries in places like Canada, Australia, and the UK.

My colleagues and I were able to watch our favorite shows on Netflix US, UK, Canada, and Australia

With Lifetime Premium VPN, I could access my Amazon Prime Video account on my first try. I experienced intermittent buffering while streaming even though my connection was reliable and did not crash.

I contacted a colleague located in the UK to conduct testing on BBC iPlayer to determine if Lifetime Premium VPN could unlock content specific to UK streaming platforms.

My colleague was impressed with how quickly Lifetime Premium unblocked BBC iPlayer

Lifetime Premium VPN unblocked BBC iPlayer as well as other UK-based platforms like Channel and ITV. However, my colleague reported that the videos lagged and streamed in poor quality.

Hulu and HBO Max: Blocked

The fact that I was unable to access all the platforms I tested was disappointing. Hulu could not be accessed using the Lifetime Premium VPN. I could access the library but could not stream any shows. I repeated the process 5 times with multiple servers and the results were the same each time.

Additionally, I tested it with HBO Max and Lifetime Premium VPN again did not perform as expected. I was immediately refused access to the service the instant I tried streaming.

Despite Lifetime Premium VPN being a smaller VPN platform that can unblock a decent number of streaming platforms, the experience could be better. ExpressVPN reliably unblocks Hulu, HBO Max, and most popular streaming platforms with lightning-fast speeds. My experience testing ExpressVPN with a variety of streaming services proved that it is highly reliable.

Speed

- 3.0 / 10

Slow and Inconsistent Speeds

Lifetime Premium makes claims of fast performance, but I found it to be one of the slowest VPN services I’ve tested. Local VPN connections had less than a fifth the speed of my regular connection, and the situation worsened as the distance increased.

Speed Test Results

I found that internet speeds were slow and inconsistent while connected to Lifetime Premium’s network. The main issue was the slow down in download speeds, which dropped by 79% on average when connected to a Lifetime Premium server. On the other hand, upload speeds increased by 12%.

To establish a benchmark, I tested my internet speed without using a VPN and got a download speed of 30.42Mbps and an upload speed of 1.97Mbps. I used servers in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, and a distant server in Australia.

A screenshot of speed tests while connected to Lifetime Premium VPN

I had a frustrating experience with slow connections across both local and remote servers

My fastest download speed was 12.02Mbps with a connection in Germany. The slowest download speed observed was 9.83Mbps while connected to an Australian server.

Despite the company’s claims, Lifetime Premium seems to have a pretty significant impact on your overall connection speed. The speeds are fine for regular internet browsing, but you’ll have trouble with bandwidth-intensive activities such as HD streaming.

Why Most Speed Tests are Pointless & How We Correctly Test VPN Speeds

Speed determines how fast content uploads, so if you're torrenting or streaming, you want the speed to be somewhat identical to your regular internet speed. Since a VPN encrypts your data, it usually takes a bit longer to send your data back and forth, which can slow down your connection. However, if your ISP deliberately slows down your connection (also known as throttling) a VPN might increase your internet speed. Testing a VPN is somewhat pointless because new servers pop up and affect speed. Your speed can also differ according to your location, so your speed test might not match ours. Having said that, we tested the speed in numerous locations to provide you with the average.

Servers

- 4.0 / 10

Server Network — Limited Server Coverage

As opposed to the 13 country options advertised by the VPN, there were only 8 available locations across all servers within the iOS and Android apps. The company claims to have over 150 servers in these 8 locations.

A significant advantage of Lifetime Premium is that all of its servers are owned by Lifetime Premium, which means your data is shared with fewer hands compared to VPNs that rent servers. This gives Lifetime Premium complete control over its servers regarding security and performance.

Screenshot of speed test results while connected to Lifetime Premium VPN

Lifetime Premium VPN has servers in just eight countries

There are multiple server locations in many of the countries that Lifetime Premium supports. Unfortunately, it is not possible to select the location of the server. For example, when I selected the United States from the menu, Lifetime Premium automatically connected me to a network of its own choosing.

Choosing a server location can be useful, especially if you travel and want to connect to a server local to your home. Connecting to a city-level server close by will also often improve speeds. I was disappointed that Lifetime Premium did not have that option.

Security — Unknown Security Implementation

Using a VPN is about keeping your data safe online, and Lifetime Premium VPN ensures that by providing 2048-bit SSL encryption across all of its applications. I couldn’t find information on its website or app about the VPN protocol it uses. I am uncertain whether it’s OpenVPN, IKEv2, or something less secure like PPTP. This lack of information makes it impossible to assess how well it encrypts internet traffic.

I emailed Lifetime Premium VPN a few times seeking information about its security but haven’t received a reply. The software lacks security features that often come standard on any VPN such as a kill switch, and there were no other tools or configuration options available. If your connection were to drop without you noticing, your true IP address would be revealed to anyone searching for it.

Lifetime Premium VPN’s client didn’t leak my IP address and DNS requests

Even though I found the provider lacking in security features, it did well in my leak test. I ran a DNS/IP test on Lifetime Premium VPN despite my misgivings, and it passed. My IP address was not revealed, and any DNS requests leading to my real location were not exposed.

As a whole, Lifetime Premium VPN is extremely vague about the features it offers in regards to encryption and security. I would have appreciated some more upfront details about this VPN’s terms and practices prior to signing up.

Privacy — Strict No-Logs Policy but an Untrustworthy Jurisdiction

I found no hidden clauses while reviewing the privacy statement of Lifetime Premium VPN. The privacy policy explicitly states that it does not monitor, record, or store any identifying information of its users.

My biggest concern is the fact that Lifetime Premium VPN is based in Germany, a country well known for its intrusive data privacy laws. On top of that, Germany is one of the founding members of the Five Eyes alliance. Thus, data collected and stored can be shared among all members of the association. On top of this, a new Communications Intelligence Gathering Act went into effect in 2016, enabling the German intelligence agency, BND, to monitor internet traffic that enters and leaves the region.

Screenshot of the excerpt of Lifetime Premium VPN no-log policy

The privacy policy shows that Lifetime Premium VPN doesn’t log your data

Despite having all these obstacles, I was relieved to see that Lifetime Premium strictly adheres to a no-logging policy, ensuring that none of your data is stored. This means that even if the government had to request Lifetime Premium’s records, it would have no data of yours to hand over.

The truth of these claims remains to be seen since the service is still relatively new. It’s clear, however, that being based in Germany isn’t the best location for a VPN. Despite this, I am pretty confident in its transparency. In fact, there’s no account registration for the Android or the iOS version, which means you don’t have to provide any sort of personal information, to begin with.

Torrenting — Supported but Risky

Lifetime Premium VPN supports peer-to-peer networking on all of its servers. At least, it doesn’t specify which servers are for torrenting and which aren’t, so it seems like all of the servers support P2P file-sharing. Even so, I wouldn’t recommend torrenting on these servers for security reasons. There is no kill-switch functionality or split tunnel support on this service, so torrenting can be risky.

There is nothing about Lifetime Premium VPN that makes torrenting safer or easier. Your internet speeds will be slowed down, and your IP address will not be protected if your connection drops.

Please note that my team and I do not condone torrenting illegally, so make sure you know the rules and regulations in your country before downloading content. Always make sure that any file you download is freely available in the public domain.

Does Lifetime Premium VPN Work in China? No!

Lifetime Premium VPN is not available in China. Most VPN services that can bypass sophisticated censorship regimes have obfuscated servers, but Lifetime Premium VPN does not. In other words, the app is unlikely to be effective in China.

I contacted Lifetime Premium customer support to confirm the platform’s stand on this issue. However, I did not receive any response to any of the emails I sent. Even if it did, its security concerns would make it a poor choice.

So, if you’re traveling to China, you should check out ExpressVPN, which is one of the few VPNs proven to work in China. Just note that the protection of a VPN doesn’t give you license to commit illegal acts, so please exercise a basic level of caution when using a VPN in China.

User Experience

- 6.0 / 10

Simultaneous Device Connections — One Device at a Time

Lifetime Premium VPN is only available for use on one device at a time. Compared to the current industry standard, this is limiting. There are also no additional connections available for purchase with this VPN provider. Thus, you need to pay another subscription fee to use this service on another device simultaneously.

As an alternative, you can find other VPN services that provide more connections. If you will need to connect several devices simultaneously, then IPVanish is the best choice for you as it supports unlimited simultaneous connections.

Device Compatibility — Apps for iOS, Android, and macOS Only

Lifetime Premium VPN is compatible with Mac, Android, and iOS devices but does not offer a dedicated Windows app. I find that quite bothersome, as almost every VPN offers a Windows application.

The company does not currently offer free extensions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and other popular browsers either. There are also no downloadable manual configuration files for Lifetime Premium VPN, which would have increased its installability. In addition, it can’t be installed on a router or be used with a mobile hotspot to share VPN protection.

Ease of Setup & Installation — Easy to Setup

I found Lifetime Premium VPN’s setup and installation to be pretty quick and easy. As the application is currently only available for Android, iOS, and Mac OS, it can be downloaded from Google Playstore and the App Store.

I tested these applications and can confirm that they’re relatively easy to use. You don’t have to create an account or provide credit card information, which is reassuring when looking for online privacy. The user interface is clean, and the app offers a quick connect feature which is helpful if you don’t want to manually connect to a VPN server every time you launch the app.

The Lifetime Premium VPN app for iOS and Android is simple and intuitive

Despite my dissatisfaction with some aspects of the Lifetime Premium VPN, I liked the design. Both the Android and iOS apps of Lifetime Premium VPN have the same features and look. Overall, it is a simple design with a limited number of customization options.

Support

- 3.0 / 10

Support queries for Lifetime Premium are only handled via email. The website does not have a live chat feature, and there is no knowledge base. If you are looking for a VPN service that offers 24/7 customer support, you will be disappointed with this one.

I contacted Lifetime Premium’s support team a couple of times via email for this review, but I have not heard back since. The website also does not have an FAQ section or an option to submit tickets.

Overall, it’s a poor customer support system. This VPN has a long way to go in terms of providing quality support for its customers.

How We Test Customer Support and Why Should You Care

We personally test the customer support team of every VPN we review. This means asking technical question through the live chat feature (where applicable) and measuring the response time for email questions. Whether you need to connect to a specific server, change your security protocol, or configure a VPN on your router, finding a VPN with quality customer support should be important to you.

Pricing

- 6.0 / 10

The Lifetime Premium VPN comes with a one-time licensing fee, so you can use it forever. The price of this VPN is significantly lower than what other providers charge on an annual basis, making it a cost-effective option that won’t put a strain on your budget. When you take into account the wide range of features it offers and its long-lasting usability, I view it as a relatively affordable investment with lasting value.

The same as many other credible VPN services, Lifetime Premium provides you with a 7-day money-back guarantee period so you can assess whether the service is worth your money. However, you can only request a refund if you purchased the software from the Google Playstore.

Lifetime Premium VPN offers the following plans

Final Verdict

Lifetime Premium VPN is a basic VPN service that lacks the advanced security and speeds that the best VPNs provide.

While Lifetime Premium VPN offers some good features, such as Netflix geo-unblocking and easy installation, there is much to be desired regarding unblocking other streaming services, connection speeds, and availability of servers. Even though the price is attractive, especially if you intend to use a VPN for a long time, the company still needs to make sure that its connections are faster, expand its server network, and make it compatible with a wider array of devices.

While Lifetime Premium is a good choice for mobile users who don’t need or want more advanced features, it lacks in important areas like speed and device support. However, if you’re searching for a VPN service with a large number of servers, streaming-optimized servers, advanced security capabilities, and a commitment to no logs then ExpressVPN is a better choice.

FAQs About Lifetime Premium VPN

Is Lifetime Premium VPN good?

No, this VPN falls short of being a worthwhile option. It has slow speeds, inactive customer support, and a minimal server network. However, the security has good encryption but no stated protocol.

Can I use Lifetime Premium VPN for free?

No, Lifetime Premium VPN does not have a free trial. However, it offers a 7-day money-back guarantee for Android users who subscribe through Google Playstore. Technically, that might be enough to give the service a try, but it’s nowhere near what other top VPNs allow. If you’re looking to test out some free VPNs though, here are a few safe and reliable choices to consider.

Is Lifetime Premium VPN really safe?

Yes, it is safe but only for light web surfing as it doesn’t leak IP, DNS, or WebRTC. Never use it on high-threat sites, including torrents, because the security protocols employed are not written on the website.

Additionally, the platform adheres to a strict zero-logging policy to ensure the maximum level of privacy. So, the platform does not keep track of the sites you visit or your activity while connected to the VPN.
